Sharing Some Progress..

So, I’m making progress on the album. I still have a way to go, but I thought I’d share some things just to show (prove) what I’m up to. Mind you, I’ll never show my whole hand because I need some element of surprise, but  I will let you get a peek.

Potential” is a spoken word piece that I’ve intended as an interlude. I wrote it YEARS ago, when I was doing poetry predominantly. This really fits the tone of the project and how I’ve been feeling lately. I thought I’d let you hear it, get some opinions, and let you know where I am. The written version follows. Please comment and get ready…

Change in the Gameplan, but You’ll Like It

Anyone who knows me knows I’ve had the concept for my album “For the Broken & Mending” for YEARS now. I’ve been writing and acquiring ideas to make it as true to the original intent as possible. I always felt overwhelmed by the task, even as I completed more songs, and couldn’t figure out why until recently.

I looked through the songs I felt fit the theme/concept of the album (I’m writing new stuff that doesn’t fit this album too) and saw that I have enough raw material for a double-disc! Now, a double-disc project would be an awfully ballsy move for a debut album and I don’t have it in me to wait until EVERYTHING is completed, so I made a decision: the album will be released in TWO parts.

The songs that are just about ready will be released as “For the Broken & Mending, Part I” in the immediate future as a digital download initially, but hard copies should be available for purchase in the month or so after. I’m really excited because my dream is finally feeling achievable and close to tangible.

I know more opportunities would come to me if I had product out and I’ve really hated sitting on so many songs for so long, but I refused to rush the release of this project and have the quality suffer because of my impatience. So to everyone who asks “what’s up with the album,” thank you for being patient with me and supporting me throughout the process. I promise it will not be be vain. Stay tuned…

VIDEO JOURNAL: Entry #001 — The Purpose

Hey, I finally did it. Didn’t like my first attempt, so I upped the ante on the production side. Giving a little insight on myself and the music to come.
