All Of This Is Not By Chance…”

I’m still on a bit of a high from the India.Arie concert last night at the Pageant. I think my opening set went rather well. It’s always hard to tell. I know when people have never heard you or your music before they tend to really focus and take it all in, so you never get an immediate reaction. I’d like to thank everybody who helped me out with my performance: Baba Kelly on percussion (who I asked only the night before), artist/producer Reign Smith on keys, superstars-in-the-making Teresa Jenee, Kiwi Harvey, & DB Sutherlin on background vocals, some of the great students of Crossroad College Prep on percussion, guitars, and strings (including Ms. Emma Silver who gave a great sax solo) and their band instructor, musical genius Lamar Harris.

Who’s Opening for India.Arie at the Pageant on September 30th?

ME! I got the greenlight on Thursday, so life’s been a dizzying blur of activity since then. Things are coming together pretty well and I’m very excited about this show.

India.Arie has been a great inspiration and influence on me since her first album. When people used to ask me to describe my musical style, I used to say “imagine if India.Arie was a guy,” so I’m truly humbled to receive the opportunity to open for her.

There are still tickets available, so if you’re interested in coming out, go to http://www.thepageant.com and get your tickets. Show starts at 8 pm. I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
